Dakota joins to “A Bigger Splash" Movie!

“Fifty Shades of Grey” doesn’t bow for another seven months but in the meantime, Dakota Johnson is setting up her future slate of films.

Johnson is set to star in “I Am Love” helmer Luca Guadagnino’s “A Bigger Splash.”

Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes join Johnson with Michael Costigan producing.

Based on the 1969 French crime drama “La Piscine,” the story revolves around an uneasy triangle that forms between a couple and a younger woman during the couple’s vacation, leading to a sinister end. Jane Birkin played the younger woman while Alain Delon and Romy Schneider played the couple in the Jacques Deray noir.

David Kajganich is writing the script. Shooting starts next month in Italy.

Though “Fifty Shades of Grey” wrapped production this past spring, Johnson has been particular about choosing her next project. She had several offers for bigger films, but decided to stick with dramas in order to work with more well-respected directors.

She recently wrapped shooting on Warner Bros.’ untitled Whitey Bulger pic starring Johnny Depp which the studio has slated for a fall 2015 release, lining it up for an award season run. Johnson is also attached to star in “Forever, Interrupted,” on which she is also a producer.

This latest role gives Johnson another serious role to add to her resume prior to the release of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
