Make-Up Artist Pati Dubroff talks about Dakota and her MET Gala Style

When it came to Dakota Johnson’s beauty look for the Met Gala on Monday, makeup artist Pati Dubroff said there "is a nod to punk rock and classic Hollywood as well as a consideration for the theme—you never want to overdo it and be too literal."

In that spirit, she went with a graphic look that was sexy, to match her flirty, high-shine Chanel dress. "I was definitely playing up the eye with the eyeliner," she tells Pret-a-Reporter.

To do that, it was "all about this elongated, graphic, severe long liner," says Duboff. "I created the shape using NARS Transval Eye Paint in grey ($25) for the shape, then on top of the grey I went over it with Black Valley and intensified the lines with NARS Eyeliner Stylo ($27). To give it extra sharpness I went under the black with NARS Porto Venere ($25) for sharp edges."

Of course the final touches were mascara and, to intensify her lip color, Audacious Lipstick in Vanessa ($32).
